CMMC 2.0 Compliance
Made Manageable
CMMC requirements depend on the applicable contract, information handled, assessment scope, and current government guidance. We help defense contractors review scope, close readiness gaps, and prepare for the appropriate next step—including an independent C3PAO assessment path when required.
Independent readiness support—not a C3PAO certification assessment. GO GSA and sister company VSG do not confer CMMC status or certification.
CMMC policy context
Confirm current requirements against official guidance and the applicable contract.
What is CMMC 2.0?
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is a DoD framework for protecting covered Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Applicability and any required level or assessment type depend on the contract and information scope.
Foundational
A baseline of 17 practices. The applicable contract and current program guidance determine whether a CMMC requirement applies; FCI alone does not establish a level.
Advanced
The CMMC Level 2 baseline is built on the 110 NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 requirements. The applicable contract and current guidance determine whether self-assessment or an independent C3PAO path applies.
Expert
Enhanced controls based on NIST SP 800-172 for the most sensitive DoD programs involving critical technology.
Who Must Comply?
CMMC is not determined by industry, company type, or a single clause alone. Review the solicitation, contract, amendments, information handled, and applicable CMMC designation. Prime contractors and subcontractors may have different obligations, and a formal Level 2 certification assessment—when required—is performed through an independent C3PAO, not GO GSA or VSG.
Our CMMC Consulting Services
We help defense contractors review scope and contract requirements, close readiness gaps, and prepare for the appropriate next step. GO GSA and sister company VSG provide readiness, documentation, remediation, and cybersecurity support—not the independent certification assessment itself.
Contract and scope review
We help review contract language, information scope, and open questions so you can plan an informed next step. A service-page description or screening does not determine applicability or level.
NIST 800-171 Gap Analysis
A structured evaluation against all 110 NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2 controls identifies which practices you have implemented, partially implemented, or not yet addressed.
System Security Plan (SSP)
We support documentation of CUI system boundaries, security controls, inherited controls, and responsible parties for your readiness and assessment preparation.
Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M)
We build a prioritized remediation roadmap with owners, budgets, and realistic timelines. Any schedule is a planning aid, not a regulatory deadline or certification guarantee.
SPRS Score Preparation
We help you calculate and submit your accurate SPRS (Supplier Performance Risk System) score under DFARS 252.204-7019 — a DoD contractual requirement.
C3PAO Assessment Preparation
When your contract calls for a formal assessment, we can help prepare evidence and readiness materials and discuss an independent C3PAO assessment path. GO GSA/VSG is not represented as the certifying assessor.
The 14 NIST 800-171 Domains
CMMC Level 2 is built on all 110 security practices across 14 domains from NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2. The free screening samples general cybersecurity topics; it is not a full review of these domains or an official CMMC assessment.
Build Readiness Around Your Contract
Readiness planning takes time, but there is no universal schedule or fixed Phase II countdown to rely on. Review your solicitation, contract amendments, information scope, and current official guidance before setting priorities.
Contract Loss Risk
Contract requirements and designations can vary. Review each solicitation and amendment rather than assuming a universal CMMC obligation.
Scope Before Schedule
Identify covered information, systems, providers, and evidence before choosing a remediation plan or assessment timeline.
Independent Assessment Path
If your contract requires a formal assessment, plan for an independent C3PAO path; GO GSA/VSG can support readiness and preparation but do not perform that certification assessment.
Diversify Beyond DoD While You Pursue CMMC
GSA Schedule contracts can open civilian federal-market opportunities. Requirements vary by agency, contract, information handled, and applicable clauses, so civilian work should not be treated as categorically exempt from cybersecurity or safeguarding duties.
- Access $40+ billion in annual civilian agency spending
- Review cybersecurity requirements for each civilian opportunity
- Stable, long-term 5-year base + 3 option periods
- GO GSA specializes in GSA Schedule + federal compliance
